A logo typeface is not just a font — it's the visual anchor of an entire brand system. It needs to be distinctive enough to be memorable, neutral enough to work across contexts, and technically robust enough to scale from a favicon to a billboard.
Logo fonts live at extremes: tiny in browser tabs, enormous on outdoor advertising. This means letterform quality matters enormously. Avoid fonts with thin hairlines that disappear at small sizes. Look for even stroke weights or controlled modulation.
Distinctive but not distracting is the goal. Fonts like Cinzel, Abril Fatface, and Alfa Slab One have strong personality that brands can own. More neutral but still characterful: Archivo Black, Syne, or Bricolage Grotesque.
For logotype-plus-tagline treatments, choose a display font for the mark and a complementary body font for supporting copy in your brand system. The pair will be used across all collateral.
